Flat Stacey's First Week On The Road

Flat Stacey and I have completed our first week on the road. We were back at the warehouse in Leesport by 4:30 this afternoon. That is unusually early in my line of work and I told her not to get used to it. We drove my truck down the road to our shop, which is about a mile away from the warehouse. There is nothing wrong with my truck, but every so often the mechanics like to check it over so we can be sure nothing happens when we are on the road, far from home.  As we arrived at the shop, I looked at the setting sun and said, “Look at that Flat Stacey, what a fitting end to a good week!” She looked over. All I heard was “Wow.” We pulled to the side of the parking lot so that I could get her picture with that early-evening goodness. Flat Stacey does not yet know that I am a huge fan of sunsets and as such, this is probably what will be the first of several thousand pictures of her with a sunset. There will likely be a few hundred more with sunrises. Both are my favorite parts of a day for their own reasons. (I will talk about those more as they happen.)

This week we traveled about 1,800 miles, which is about average. We only had 18 deliveries. That is very low, but it made for a very relaxing week. I told Flat Stacey not to get used to it. We didn’t have to work too hard, and we got lots of rest when we weren’t having fun eating donuts or singing songs. I enjoy relaxing weeks because I prefer fun over money. We still brought home a good paycheck for our efforts, so there is no need to stress over anything. That’s a good definition of a perfect week!

We drove through seven states during our travels: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Vermont. (I did not write those in any particular order. That would have required work, and we are done working for the week.)

Next week, we will start Monday in Delaware with 5 stops. Too bad those deliveries are not near the beach. It would be neat to show Flat Stacey the ocean. There will be other chances. For now, I told her to get some rest. Even though we are home, we will be hitting the road again tomorrow morning on a new adventure that is so secret, I cannot talk about it right now. The fun never stops when you ride with me. I informed Flat Stacey that she can get used to that!
